Take Your Pain Medications

Use a Cold Compress
The side of your mouth and jaw will swell in size which won’t subside for at least 3 to 4 days post operation. So, use an ice pack or a cold compress and lay it on your check and jaw. It will help numb the area and reduce the swelling.
Keep Your Mouth Clean
It is necessary to clean your mouth post surgery and after having food. However, don’t brush your teeth for a day. Just rinse your mouth with water so that you don’t aggravate the bleeding.

Rest A Little

Exercise Your Jaw
Your jaw might feel stiff and painful after surgery which is why it’s important to exercise your jaw by slowly opening and closing your mouth. However, it’s also equally as important to not over-exert yourself when exercising your jaw as this will only cause the pain to increase. The uncomfortable stiffness will last for 3 to 7 days before fully healing so exercise as much as you can in this time period.
Drink Lots of Liquids
As it will be painful for you to move your mouth and open your jaw, drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated. If you feel like eating food, have softer foods like fruit purees and soft ice creams.
Steer clear of biting from the operated side and keep it clean. Also, avoid harder food as you don’t want to bite on anything crunchy that might require extra pressure and effort on your part.
