5 Tips to Be an Oral Hygiene Queen

1. Brush your mouth properly

Remind yourself not to neglect your tongue and gums. It’s best to tilt your brush at a 45-degree angle so you cover the gums as well.

Switch up the movement of the brush to circular motions and don’t just move it side-to-side. Be gentle on your gums and use a brush with bristles that suit the sensitivity of your teeth and gums.

Also, don’t forget to use a tongue cleaner to remove the bacteria on your tongue; this will help you avoid bad breath.

Lastly, brush at least twice a day and don’t forget to brush your teeth before going to bed!

2. Straws for drinking

If you can’t cut down on your love for juice and coffee, you can use straws to drink your beverage of choice. This reduces the contact that the drink has with your teeth, preventing stains and corrosion.

3. Supplement your sugar

Sugary and acidic foods are generally unhealthy for your mind and body, and also your teeth! Sugary drinks—including tea, coffee, and high acidity food—can cause the enamel on your teeth to erode. Once the protective layering is stripped, it can cause toothaches and sensitive gums. A good supplement for sugary drinks is to make them yourself using natural ingredients like milk, yogurt, or water.

4. Mouthwash

Using a mouthwash with fluoride in it—especially before you go to bed—can be a great addition to your oral hygiene routine. Fluoride is fantastic for your teeth and keeps tooth decay at bay.  Most people don’t realize that getting a mouthwash is a very simple step but effective step that makes a world of a difference because it reduces the amount of bacteria in your mouth.
